The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) plans to send a proposal to the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) in order to allocate funds to train tourism service providers in the state. For this, the Board has identified service providers from few sectors such as police, forest, dhabawalas, porters, hotel management institutes, wildlife institutes, Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigham (GMVN) and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) et al. The main idea is to teach the service providers on how to treat tourists and behave with them politely.
The Board expects to start the training programmes immediately after fund allocation by MoT. An official source from the Board informed that the board plans to conduct seven to 15 days training programmes in various batches for five to six months and will train 10,000 to 15,000 service providers from the state. All the service providers from each department will be trained separately and the Board will train about 400 to 500 students in one batch.
