With the aim to promote tourism in Pattaya, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently organised Pattaya road show in Delhi after holding it in Mumbai. The road show provided a feel of Pattaya with cultural dances and display of innovative tourism product ranges from hotels, beaches, entertainment, destinations and wildlife. The cultural dances were performed by Tiffany group. The show was attended by distinguished dignitaries from Pattaya city administration such as, Itthiphol Kunplome, Mayor, Pattaya City; Wattana Chantanawaranon, Deputy Mayor, Pattaya City; Tavich Chaiswangvong, Chairman, Pattaya City Council; Apichart Puetpan, Deputy Permanent Secretary, City Clerk; Wuttipol Charoenphon, Head, Pattaya City Clerk; Praiwal Hongsa, Chief of Tourism Department and Teerarat Uruakeolarn, Foreign Affairs Officer, Pattaya.
The road show provided an opportunity for Indian buyers to interact with 40 participants from Pattaya, representing 20 various tourism companies. Few sellers from Pattaya included: Anchaleewan (The Zign Hotel); Sunbeam Hotel Pattaya; Wantamitr ( A- One The Royal Cruise Hotel); Best Western Pattaya (Bella Villa Metro); Sunshine Hotels & Resorts; Papa Tour and Travel, Tiffany’s Show Pattaya; Aiyapura Resort & Spa; U-Tapao International Airport Pattaya; Aiyapura Resort & Spa; Royal Twin Palace Hotel; Pattaya Floating Market; Sriracha Tiger Zoo; Thai Alangkarn Theatre; Nongnooch Tropical Garden & Resort; Vimantaitalay; Royal Orchid Resort; Tat.Pattaya; Chon Buri Provincial Administrative Organisation and Pattaya City et al
Speaking at the function, Kunplome said that tourism is the national agenda for the Government of Thailand; therefore they exempt Visa fees and many other incentives for increasing flow of travellers to the country.
Further, when contacted, Pinky Arora, Marketing Manager-India, TAT said that it is a good opportunity for Indian buyers to know about the various products in Pattaya. She also added that Pattaya has all kinds of tourism products which cater to the needs of contemporary Indian travellers. While Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, Director, TAT, informed that it is the first time that a city (Pattaya) in Thailand has taken the initiative to organise road shows in key Indian cities such as New Delhi and Mumbai. He added that TAT has organised the show in association with Pattaya City and Chon Buri Provincial Administrative Organisation. Chon Buri is a region in Pattaya city.
Suttikorn Jearpaitoon who represented Thai Alangkarn, said that India is a priority market for them. He expects to get more MICE business from India and stated that Thailand is growing in MICE business and soon will be one of the best MICE destinations in the world.
