The Chennai-based Aircel is mulling over an investment of Rs.1,100 crore as a part of its Phase II expansion in Karnataka.
Under Phase II, the telecom operator plans to set up 1,200 new base stations in Karnataka over the next two months. Currently, the company has 500 base stations across the state. So far, the company had invested Rs.550 crore as start-up investments in Bangalore. Besides, Aircel has launched its GSM mobile services in Bangalore on 23 February 2009.
Aircel has operations in 11 telecom circles, which include the states of Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Orissa, Assam and Kerala.
