Lanco Solar Pvt. Ltd is one of six companies to have received formal approval from the board of approval for special economic zones committee. The Lanco SEZ for solar photovoltaics has been planned at Ramdaspur in Cuttack district of Orissa. The BoA gave two in-principle approvals and considered 10 others for setting up SEZs. Besides, it also accorded co-developer status to three of the proposals. The other companies that received formal approvals are the IT SEZ promoted by Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd at Baprola village in Delhi; a gem and jewellery SEZ; an IT/ITES SEZ by Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd at Kozhikode, Kerala; a hardware SEZ promoted by Empire Industries Ltd at Ambernath in Thane district, and a biotech SEZ by Veritas Infrastructure Development at Alibaug in Raigad district, both in Maharashtra. The in-principle approvals were given to a free trade warehousing zone at Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, and a copper SEZ promoted by Sterlite Industries at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The co-developers status went to Indiabulls' multi-product SEZ at Nashik, Maharashtra; Gopalan Enterprises' IT/ITES SEZ in Bengaluru; and Electronics Technology Parks' IT/ITES SEZ in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Out of the total 570 formal approvals granted for setting up SEZs, only 346 have been notified. |
