Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has put up the last span of the P.V. Elevated Expressway on 7 September 2009 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. With this, the major structure work of the entire 11.43 km expressway has been completed. The expressway is scheduled to be completed by 2 October 2009.
The last and the 327th span of the project has been erected by launching girder. Currently, other works such as black topping, median kerbing and road signage for readying the expressway offering seamless access towards the airport at Shamshabad from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital are underway.
HMDA has taken up work using modern methods of construction and 3,492 segments of the bridge were pre-cast at the casting yards located at Shamshabad, transported to the site in trolleys and erected using launching girders. Seven such girders were used to erect 291 spans, each span consisting of 12 pre-cast segments, while the balance of 36 spans were done in the conventional cast-in-situ method.
While the main structure of the elevated expressway offering express drive from S.D. Eye Hospital to Aramgarh is slated to be ready by 2 October.
The total value of the project is Rs 439 crore. Two other components of the project, an underpass at Aramgarh and a Trumpet Interchange have already been completed.
