Godfrey Phillips India intends to invest Rs 270 crore on distribution, retail outlets and in advertisements in order to achieve a set a target of Rs 2,200 crore of revenue in 2009-10.
The company is likely to spread its presence in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Godfrey is planning to reach out to its customers in Tamil Nadu through 10,000 plus retail outlets.
The current production capacity for the company is two billion cigarette sticks per month which is likely to be raised by another one billion over the next 18 months with a new facility in Thane, Mumbai. Godfrey is setting up a 1.5 billion sticks per month manufacturing plant with an investment of Rs 200 crore in Thane, Mumbai.
It also plans to expand its bidi portfolio in the next few months. The company currently sells its Sona brand of bidis in Rajasthan, Haryana and Gujarat. Besides, plans are afoot to enter into some chewing products in the near future.
