Surya Pharmaceutical, the Chandigarh based company plans to invest Rs 250 crore in setting up 500 healthcare and pharma retail stores in the next three years. The company will raise the amount through a combination of promoters, equity, venture capital, private equity and borrowings from banks.
In Phase I, 100 stores will come up in the national capital region by March 2010 and later on in Chandigarh and Punjab. Surya is also expected to launch a chain of chemist and wellness outlets in North India under the Viva brand and expand to other parts in a span of three years. The stores ranging from 150 to 1,000 sq. ft will sell medicines, health and fitness products.
