Work on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana rail link via Khamano and Samrala has finally begun. Farmer’s refusal to part with their land falling en route the rail link in Samrala had caused the work on Morinda-Sahnewal stretch of the rail link to be held up for the past several months.

However, according to sources, possession of the acquired land has been taken between Morinda and Sahnewal and earth work has started to set up the rail link.

The rail line between Morinda and Chandigarh and Sahnewal and Ludhiana has already been completed. The Morinda-Sahnewal stretch spanning 55 km is expected to be completed by 2011.
