Stone laid for third line between Panskura, Kharagpur

Ms Mamata Banerjee, the Union Minister of Railways, has laid the foundation stone for construction of a third line between Panskura and Kharagpur in West Bengal, on 9 August 2009.

The 45 km stretch is likely to be ready within two years and is expected to be helpful to both passenger and freight movement in the Kharagpur division of South Eastern Railway.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 252.54 crore and L&T is to implement the project under supervision of the Rail Vikas Nigam. The total composite contract awarded to L&T is worth Rs 186.13 crore. The project is to come up on the land available with the railways.
