BEML launches standard guage metro car, aluminium wagon

Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) rolled out a standard gauge metro car and aluminium 80-tonne wagon at a function in Bangalore on 11 September 2009.

The BG Metro train is a four car formation, comprising two driving trailer cars and two motor cars with a capacity to carry 1,506 passengers. The cars have electrically automated passenger doors to ensure passenger safety.

BEML is expected to supply 150 metro cars to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation worth Rs 1,672.5 crore. The first set is expected to be delivered by October 2010 for test purposes.
