Winwind Power Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Finnish renewable energy company Winwind, has inaugurated its Rs 375 crore wind turbine manufacturing facility at Vengal near Chennai.
The plant is expected to produce turbines with 3 MW capacity as and when the demand for the technology picks up.
The initial production capacity of the facility is around four wind turbine generators (WTG) per day and it plans to scale up to eight WTGs per day within 18 months of production.
The investment in the Chennai facility was made by the Siva Group, Finnish Industry Investment and Masdar, the clean technology arm of Abu Dhabi Government.
