UJVNL may develop Kishau hydel power project

The Uttarakhand Government is likely to hand over the 600 MW multi-purpose Kishau hydel power project to Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (UJVNL).

For the past two years, Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC) is in touch with state government officials to bag the implementation contract of the project which is hanging fire for the past two decades. It is also working on the DPR of the project.

The Kishau plant is proposed on the river Tons, a tributary of Yamuna, near Dehra Dun. The cost of project is being estimated at Rs 10,000 crore and height of the dam will be 236 mtrs.

The project will provide irrigation water to Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
