Prakash Industries, an integrated steel & power company, is planning to expand its power generation capacity from the present 100 MW to 725 MW. The project is being set up at its site at Champa village in Chhattisgarh adjacent to its existing facilities.

The company has already been allotted additional Fatehpur Coal Block for the power project. It has also been accorded all the necessary approvals from the nodal agencies pertaining to environment and water requirements.

Currently, work is underway so as to commission Phase I of 250 MW by 2010 and to complete entire 625 MW in three years.

On completion, surplus power generation after meeting company's own captive needs is likely to be marketed though Power Exchanges.
