Gayatri Projects to foray into power generation

Gayatri Projects, the Hyderabad based infrastructure company, is planning to diversify into power generation.

The company reportedly plans to set up a 1,320 MW thermal power unit in Andhra Pradesh at an outlay of Rs 7,000 crore. The company is expected to set up the power unit in two phases with each of 660 MW capacity.

The company has finalised coal linkage with Mahanadi Coal Fields and is awaiting certain approvals for the project. The final details of the project are to be ready by December 2009.
