Athwatu power plant inaugurated

Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir is expected to inaugurate on 29 June 2009, a 12 MW power project at Athwatu. The project will provide electricity to north Kashmir's Bandipore town.

Magpie Hydel Construction Operation Industries, the promoter of the power plant, completed the construction in three years time at a cost of about Rs 80 crore.

The J-K Bank holds 70 per cent stake in the project, which is to run on a BOOT basis.
