The Orissa Government is likely to sign an MoU with Essel Mining & Industries, an Aditya Birla group company, for the development of a Rs 1,500 crore captive port at Chudamani in Bhadrakh district of Orissa.
Initially, the proposed captive port will have a three million tonne cargo handling capacity, which will be later increased to 10 million tonne when fully commissioned. The state government and the Ministry of Defence have accorded approval for the project.
A consortium of Aditya Birla Group companies is expected to develop the port which will handle captive cargo of the group companies like cement, iron ore, thermal coal, limestones, gypsum, clinker, and copper.
