Aurobindo Pharma to take over Trident Life Sciences

The Hyderabad based Aurobindo Pharma Ltd (APL) is likely to acquire its group company - Trident Life Sciences Ltd (TLSL) - for Rs 135 crore.

The board of directors of APL has given its approval to a proposal to acquire 100 per cent stake in TLSL. The proposed acquisition is expected to expand APL's business space into injectables.

Currently, TLSL is in the process of setting up a dedicated facility spread over 30 acre to manufacture liquid injectables at Medak in Andhra Pradesh. The proposed plant is expected to manufacture general injectable range of formulation products, including glass vials for lyophilised sterile powder and liquids. So far, 75 per cent of the facility is complete and the plant is scheduled to go on stream by April 2011.
