Reliance Petroleum Ltd, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd, is all set to commence exports from its 29-million tpa SEZ refinery-cum-polypropylene complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, by end of this month. The company started crude processing 5,80,000 barrels per day for exports at Jamnagar refinery in December last year.
The company has announced that commissioning activities were nearing end at several secondary processing units under synchronisation, and several support units and utilities such as water, air, nitrogen, steam and power required for the refinery were being operated successfully.
RPL completed the refinery in 36 months and has undertaken the task of ensuring safety of all the units in the complex with the help of internal experts, engineering contractors and equipment suppliers, following an accident at the construction site earlier this month.
The RPL refinery has been developed in partnership with Chevron, USA, which holds a 5 per cent stake in the refinery. This is the second refinery from the Reliance stable in Jamnagar which (along with the existing 33-million tpa RIL refinery) is now the world's largest refinery complex, with an aggregate refining capacity of 1.24 million bpd at a single location.
RPL's refinery is one of the highly competitive refineries in India, with the configuration and flexibility to deliver superior returns on a sustained basis, even in the current volatile market conditions.
