The Haryana Government has approved the Haryana Underground Pipelines (Acquisition of Right of User in Land) Rules, 2009.

The Act was enacted for implementation of a number of projects involving acquisition of right of user in land for laying underground pipelines for carrying water and gas in Haryana.

Two major projects including the 1,500 MW Indira Gandhi super thermal power plant and Haryana Power Generation Corporation's 1,320 MW Thermal Power Plant are being developed adjacent to each other in the district of Jhajjar which require immediate arrangement of underground pipeline for supply of water from JLN canal at a distance of about 14 km from these projects.

The Indira Gandhi super thermal power plant is targeted to be completed in October 2010.
