The commissioning of the 132-km Dadri-Panipat R-LNG spur pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd is expected to be delayed by five months, from January to May 2009. The Rs 298-crore pipeline project runs from Gas Authority of India Ltd's Dadri terminal in Uttar Pradesh to IndianOil's Panipat refinery in Haryana.
According to IndianOil officials, though the company has completed horizontal directional drilling (HDD) work at four places at the site, work at the Ganga Unlined canal site in the UP sector was stopped due to stiff resistance from farmers. IOCL has obtained all the necessary forest clearances from the five districts.
IndianOil executed an agreement with Gail in February this year for connectivity with the latter's network in association with a business development group. IOCL also issued the letters of agreement for mainline and combined station works to Kirloskar Construction and Engineers Ltd.
