DSM Infratech, Gail Gas and Bhagyanagar Gas Ltd (BGL) who have bagged the right to lay city gas distribution (CGD) networks in six cities are likely to source natural gas from Petronet LNG and Panna-Mukta-Tapti (PMT) fields. In addition to this, the three firms are expected to get gas supplies from Reliance Industries' blocks in the Krishna-Godavari (K-G) basin.
However, the five mscmd allocated from the K-G basin to the CGD will partly be consumed by the existing networks and therefore, the companies will have to look for alternative source for gas supply. Even, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board has directed these companies to secure gas supply contracts within three months of winning the contract bid.
Gail Gas has won gas supply bids for Devas in Madhya Pradesh, Kota in Rajasthan, Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and Sonepat in Haryana, while DSM Infratech won the rights for Mathura in Uttar Pradesh and BGL will lay city gas network for Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
