Great Eastern Energy keen to bid for CBM blocks

Great Eastern Energy Corporation Ltd (GEECL) is keen to bid for the fourth round of the Coal Bed Methane (CBM) block auction. Currently, GEECL is assessing the resources opened under auction.

The Union Government has put up ten blocks under CBM-IV auction which covers an estimated area of 5,000 sq km. These blocks are spread over Assam, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The last date of bidding is 12 October 2009.

Currently, GEECL produces CBM from its Raniganj block in West Bengal, which is spread across on aggregate area of 210 sq km.
