Toyota Motor Corporation
is setting up its second manufacturing facility in Bidadi, near Bangalore, next
to its existing plant, at a cost of Rs.1,400 crore.
The plant will have an
annual production capacity of 1,00,000 units. The second plant is expected to
become operational by 2010 and is expected to employ 2400 people.
The company is expected
to double the investment in the second plant in future, which will go up to
Rs.2,800 crore from the present Rs.1,400 crore.
India is the first country where Toyota will launch an innovative compact
car. The small car will not compete with the upcoming Nano of Tata Motors,
touted to be the world's cheapest car.
