Kolkata to host global expo on mining sector

The 3rd International Mining, Exploration, Mineral Processing and Machinery Exhibition (IME 2010), which will be held at the Netaji Stadium and Khudiram Hall Complex in Kolkata, West Bengal, from January 22-25, promises to offer "unparalleled business opportunities" for the mining and minerals industry. On display will be mineral and mining technologies, machinery and equipment, mineral processing procedures, latest technology and their innovative applications, R&D, logistics, communication, and safety and health aspects of mining and allied industries.

The mega event, which will be held concurrently with the 3rd Asian Mining Congress, has been organised by Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI) and TAFCON. The event is supported by several ministries, mineral-rich states, public sector undertakings, and corporates and industry as a whole.

Over 250 exhibitors, 500 delegates, 15,000 trade visitors and 20 countries are expected to participate in this international exhibition that will serve as an ideal platform for display and launch of new initiatives, products and technologies, establishing joint ventures, and developing and renewing global and regional contacts.

Professionals and trade visitors from India and abroad policy makers and government officials; foreign missions and industry associations; investors, MNCs, industrialists and traders; key personnel of core and allied industries; mining, logistics, shipping and freight companies; machinery and equipment manufacturers, exporters and importers; IT companies and solutions providers; trade delegations, buyers and sourcing personnel; consultants, R&D professionals and academicians; infrastructure development organisations; and engineers and architects.

The 3rd Asian Mining Congress, which has "Resurgence of Mining in Asia: Prospects and Challenges" as its theme, is a concurrent conclave of mining and mineral professionals, policy makers, industry experts, scientists, engineers and technologists associated with mining and allied sectors. It will be held at Hotel Taj Bengal in Kolkata on January 22- 24. About 70 eminent speakers from India and abroad will debate, deliberate and exchange views on the key issues for the mining and allied sectors in Asia. The Congress will present the pressing issues of the year and of the market, and describe latest techniques and solutions with case studies. Over 800 delegates from about 20 countries are expected to participate.
