The Goa Government is relying on the Union Government schemes to get additional resource mobilization for the Tillari irrigation project as its estimates have risen six times compared to the original estimates worked out 19 years ago.
Present estimated cost of Tillari project is Rs 1,390.04 crore against the original figures of Rs 217.22 crore. The proposed project planned during 1990, is a JV between Maharashtra Government and Goa Government.
Goa's share into the project has raised from Rs 161.18 crore in 1990 to Rs 965 crore this fiscal. The Goa Government has mooted a proposal to get a grant of Rs 40 crore during this fiscal under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP).
The Tillari project has received a loan assistance of Rs 113.30 crore from the Union Government. So far, another Rs 7,362 crore has been received in the form of grant under AIBP.
