Udaipur town will get drinking water from Lake Picchola and Lake Jaisamand in Udaipur, Rajasthan. There are three hotels in Rajasthan, which are located in middle of the lakes. The three hotels in Udaipur are Hotel Jagmandir Palace in Lake Picchola, Hotel Taj Lake Palace in Lake Picchola and Hotel Silver Shadow Exports Balea Island in Jaisamand Lake
Minister of State for the Ministry of Environment and Forests (Independent charge) Jairam Ramesh in a written reply to Dr Prabha Thakur in Rajya Sabha yesterday mentioned that the water after proper filtration and disinfection will be supplied to Udaipur town for drinking purpose. The wastewater of Jagmandir Palace Hotel and Hotel Taj Lake Palace in Lake Picchola of Udaipur will be pumped through a pipeline laid under the lake into a combined sewage treatment plant provided by the hotels outside the lake. In case of Hotel Silver Shadow, situated in an island inside the Lake Jaisamand, the hotel has provided a sewage treatment plant. The treated wastewater will be discharged on the island for plantation purposes. No wastewater will be discharged into the Lake and zero discharge status is being maintained.
