Khandani Rajdhani, the Indian thali serving restaurant chain of Encore Hotels Pvt Ltd (EHPL) has introduced Working Meal Box, a lunch product across India. The concept is presently being rolled out in its restaurants across the country. While the company had a similar product, Special Meal Box, which are available in its outlets, the new product is more economically placed.
Speaking about the development to Hospitality Biz, Ajikumar Nair, General Manager (Corporate) – Operations, EHPL, states, “The earlier product was priced at Rs 85 per meal. Due to its popularity, there were demands from our existing clients, especially from locations like Nagpur and Indore for the meal's lighter version.” The Working Meal Box is priced at Rs 55 per meal. The company will offer the meals to corporates, either on bulk orders or on advance booking. EHPL has positioned the product as a budget meal.
The company is promoting this as a home packed meal for the office goers. The direct marketing mode is being used for its existing corporate clientele. It has targeted about 2000 packets per month in each of its unit located outside Mumbai. In the city, EHPL targets about 2000 meals per day to be sold from every unit.
Besides, it is simultaneously rolling out Snack Box, each consisting four pieces of 'Farsan' (fried, baked and steam snacks). The product will target corporates and is priced at Rs 35 per box. “Celebrations like birthdays, promotions often take place in offices where employees distribute snacks. We perceive a huge potential in this segment and have introduced a product dedicated to this client base,” informs Nair. The Snack Boxes will be dispensed from both Khandani Rajdhani restaurants and Rajdhani Snacklets. It aims to cater at least 500 boxes per day especially in main metro locations like Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Expanding its restaurant brand in Mumbai, the company will introduce three new outlets of Rajdhani each at CR2 Mall in Nariman Point (on June 24, 2009), R City Mall at Ghatkopar (on July 1, 2009) and Phoenix Mills (by mid August 2009).
