Jungle Lodges & Resorts (JLR), a responsible wildlife and eco-tourism company under the Karnataka Tourism department, will establish four more eco-friendly resorts in the state. According to N D Tiwari, Managing Director, JLR, the destinations for these jungle lodges have been identified and construction will be completed within a period of two years. These destinations are Bidar, Hampi, Jog Falls and Pilikula.
Established in 1980, JLR currently operates 12 eco-lodges and resorts in Karnataka. All the lodges are located in ecologically fragile and sensitive locations like Kabini, Bandipur, Dubare, Bhimeshwari, Bannerghatta, Galibore and Devbagh. When asked about the room inventory, which JLR is looking at each of the new locations, Tiwari said, “Generally, our inventory is about 20 odd cottages with all supporting staffs and other facilities for guest’s comfort.”
Tiwari said that the basic focus will be on sustainable development and conservation of the fragile environment, while promoting adventure tourism like trekking, wildlife trails, bird watching around protected areas.
