Micro Think Tank, which focuses on addressing the security issues in India, has recently released a white paper on hotel security. It highlighted the needs for standardisation of security in the country, as also the requirement of adequate training of security professionals. The company will distribute the report to government bodies and hotel industry. It plans to create a platform to initiate discussions between the government, industry and the citizens to assess the present security measures and the reason to conduct security checks, which are implemented by hotels.
“Indians are usually averse to security checks. However, they would feel comfortable if told about what the security guards are checking and the reasons for the checks being conducted. Most security personnel in hotels are unaware as to why should one be checked and are not adept to locate any unnatural object,” states Vijay Mukhi, Chairman, Micro Secure Think Tank.
The white paper also focussed the need for an effective amalgamation of technology and manpower, in order to streamline processes and make security seamless. “Hospitality industry is becoming a hostile industry. It has not taken its security issues seriously. Merely installing equipments is not the way out. Security should be implemented in an umbrella fashion wherein all the individuals should be checked and there should be no discrimination between the VVIP guests and anyone else,” opines Dr P Sekhar, Chairman & Managing Director, Micro Technologies (India) Ltd. The company has come up with a list of recommendations for security upgradation in hotels.
