The Apollo Hospitals Group plans to set up a chain of 250 "Apollo Reach" specialty hospitals across semi-urban and rural India, with an investment of Rs.12,500 crore.
In Phase I, specialty centres will be set up at 25 places, including five in Gujarat, at an investment of Rs 50 crore each.
The group is also setting up a R&D centre at Dholka in Ahmedabad district in association with Cadila Pharma and Stem Cyte, USA, with a total investment of Rs 60 crore.
Apollo also plans to infuse Rs 1,400 crore in the next couple of years, including Rs 50 crore in Gujarat. In 2009-10, it will invest Rs 24 crore in setting up a nursing college and a stem cell centre in the state as well.
