The Pune based Maharashtra Council for Agricultural Education and Research (MCAER) has given administrative approval for the Rs 100 crore proposal for development of infrastructure at agriculture universities.
The proposal has now been sent to the Maharashtra Government and to the New Delhi based Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for final approval.
Of the Rs 100 crore, Akola based Punjabrao Deshmukh agriculture university has sent proposals of Rs 84.12 crore, followed by Rahuri based Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, which has sought Rs 13.21 crore.
The funds are to be utilised in the next five years for construction, equipment purchase and expenditure on staff recruitment and it will be disbursed in instalments.
