Luminous to move south for new facility

Luminous Power Technologies intends to set up a manufacturing base for its inverters and batteries in South India with an investment of Rs 250 crore. Currently, it is in the process of finalising the location.

Besides, the company is planning to set up a diesel genset manufacturing unit and is likely to finalise the location for the units by end-December 2009. This facility is likely to be complementary to its line of business and help serve the small- and medium-size enterprises in need of power.

The company already has plants at Baddi and Gagret in Himachal Pradesh which are being used to their expanded capacity, along with its overseas plant in China.
