Elecon Engineering plans Rs.182 crore expansion by 2009

Elecon Engineering, is planning to spend over Rs.182 crore for expansion by March 2009. The expansion plans include manufacturing new wind mills and their gear box at Vallabh Vidhyanagar at Anand district of Gujarat, manufacturing of lift and elevator gear boxes and upgradation of existing facilities

The company has earmarked more than Rs.100 crore for wind mill gear box facility. The unit will start production by September 2008 and will attain its full production capacity of 200-300 units by the end of March 2010.

The gear box will have capacity of 1-2 MW. The company will invest Rs.10-12-crore in setting up a new facility to manufacture wind mills at Vallabh Vidhyanagar.The rest of the amount will be invested in manufacturing of lift/elevator gear boxes and upgradation of the existing facilities.
