Technopark Kollam master plan approved

Technopark Thiruvananthapuram Project Implementation Board has approved the master plan for an IT park in Kollam.

The proposed IT park is being developed as a 'spoke' of Technopark Thiruvananthapuram. It is likely to be notified as an SEZ and tendering for the infrastructure development works like 110 kV substation, internal roads and water supply scheme are in progress. A modern sewage treatment plant is also part of the master plan. The project is to come up on 40 acre at Kundara in Kollam district of Kerala. The land for the park has already been allotted by the State Government and the foundation stone for the park was laid in February 2009.

The Phase I of the IT park with a built-up space of 1 lakh sq ft is expected to be ready by August 2010.

The IT park will also have access from the backwaters as the site is located on the banks of the Ashtamudi lake. The Kerala Inland Water Navigation Department plans to create facilities to promote water transport to the park and the Technopark authorities have already approved the proposal for a boat jetty in the park.
