The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) is planning to set up a terminal market of international level at Ganaur in Sonepat district.
The proposed terminal market is likely to be set up at an investment of Rs 1,500 crore under Phase II of National Horticulture Mission Mega Projects Scheme. Currently, land acquisition of 500 acre for the project is underway.
Besides this, HSAMB has planned collection centres at 100 stations at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore, pack house and multi-utility cold storage at various stations at an estimated cost of Rs 55 crore and a modern fruit and vegetable market at Nuh in Mewat district at an estimated cost of Rs 9.5 crore under the scheme. The connected fruit and vegetable market at Rohtak, Hisar, Narnaul, Karnal, Ambala, Sonepat and Panipat will also be upgraded. The collection centres are likely to be set up on an area of 2.5 acre. Besides, a modern retail market having facilities of air conditioning, lift and escalators is being set up in the market yard in sector 20 at Panchkula with an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.
