The two food parks at Rai in Sonepat and Saha in Ambala district being developed by the Haryana government are attracting industry bigwigs. An official spokesman said on Monday that all necessary facilities like electricity, water, roads and communication have been provided at the food parks spread over 186 acres.
The spokesman said these parks would be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and the modern technology to cater to the food processing industry. These food parks are proving an ideal solution for all small and medium-scale entrepreneurs and industrialists with food processing idea. He said the food park at Rai was being developed in the Sonepat industrial belt, just about 35 km from Delhi.
The Rai food park is spread over 116 acres. As many as 223 plots of different sizes varying between 312.5 square metres and 11,025 sq.m had been carved out in this park. A majority of plots in the park stand allotted as on date. Some of the major units already in production in the park include Yakult Danone India and Unique Fragrances.
Besides, a number of small units had also started production activities at the park. These units are primarily engaged in the manufacture and processing of pulses, rice, bread, fruits and vegetables. Other industry leaders included Bector Foods Specialities, Bikano Bakery & Namkeen, Kumar Foods and Reliance Industries.
