Century Textiles plans capex for millland at Worli

Century Textiles & Industries, a part of the BK Birla Group of companies is likely to invest Rs 625 crore for Phase I of land development of Century Mill at Worli in Mumbai.

The land development is likely to be carried out in three phases and Phase I envisages development of a commercial complex and rehabilitation of around 850 workers according to law. The construction work is likely to commence on 20 acre by end-December 2009 and presently the demolition of old building is on. The company intends to set up a hotel and a commercial complex for IT and ITeS companies. Tenders for the construction work are expected to be floated shortly.

Of the 30 acre Worli mill land, 20 acre free-hold land is owned by the BK Birla Group, while the Wadia Group owns the rest. The Birlas have lease rights for 999 years.
