The Union Ministry of Coal (MoC) has cancelled coal linkages for 25 captive power projects (CPP) with a cumulative generation capacity of 1,284.7 MW as it was displeased at the slow pace of work at various CPPs.
The developers of these CPPs have neither commissioned their respective projects, nor have they executed the fuel supply agreements (FSA) with the concerned coal companies, which is a pre-requisite as per the provisions of the new Coal Distribution Policy.
Of the 25 CPPs, 10 projects were entitled to draw coal from the mines of Singareni Colleries Company, while the remaining projects were to source coal from the coal mines of CIL subsidiaries, consisting of eight mines from Mahanadi Coalfields, five mines from Eastern Coalfields and two mines from Central Coalfields.
