Coal India to commission 19 washeries by 2015 |

Coal India Ltd (CIL) is expected to commission 19 washeries over the next five years with an investment of Rs 3,000 crore. These facilities will help CIL in enhancing the quality of its coal through washing.
The company plans to build the washeries on build, operate and maintain basis which are to have a capacity to wash 105 million tonne of coal.
According to sources, CIL plans to start commercial operation of six out of the 19 washeries by March 2013 and contract signing for these is likely to be completed by March 2010. Of the six washeries proposed, three are to be set up at its subsidiary Bharat Coking Coal, two at Mahanadi Coalfields and one at Central Coalfields.
The company is likely to float global tenders for another eight facilities in the next six months and plans to commission them by 2013-14 while another five washeries may be added by 2014-15.
