The Andhra Pradesh Government is mulling to form an equal JV with Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) and National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).

The proposed JV is likely to focus exclusively on exploration of iron ore and gold deposits.

A need has been felt for the involvement of APMDC and NMDC in low grade iron exploitation in Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Karimnagar districts for the establishment of beneficiation plants. The estimated reserves of iron ore in Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Karimnagar districts are about 200 million tonne.
