Tata Chemicals to sign gas supply agreement with RIL

Tata Chemicals is likely to ink Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) on March 6 2009 with Reliance Industries (RIL) for its 11.55 lakh tonne urea plant at Babrala in Uttar Pradesh. The GSPA will be signed along with the eight other fertiliser units which are to get RIL's eastern offshore KG-D6 gas.

Tata's Babrala unit will get 0.88 million cubic meters per day (mmscmd) of gas from KG-D6 will enable the company to meet its entire 2.24 mmscmd gas requirement which produces both urea and ammonia. The gas supply for Tata Chemicals is likely to begin from April 2009.
