Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd has formed a joint venture with Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company Ltd and Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd to set up several petrochemical projects. The company has also formed another JV for setting up a chemical park for small and medium enterprises with the two companies and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation.
GACL is also working on JV strategies for new products like phenol, acetone, propylene oxide and expansion in hydrogen peroxide. Company officials said that the JV with Dow-GACL Solventure, the Swiss subsidiary of US multinational Dow Chemicals, was moving ahead as scheduled.
