Jaypee plans major expansion

Jaypee Group plans to invest around Rs 3,500 crore during the current fiscal to increase its production capacity. The amount is part of the Rs 10,000 crore investment earmarked by the company for its growth plans of which it has already spent Rs 6,000 crore. A part of the funds have been amassed through foreign currency convertible bonds.

Jaypee plans to add 25 million tpa production capacity by the end of the financial year 2011 and is likely to expand capacity to 10 million tpa by the end of October 2009. The company currently produces 13.5 million tpa of cement.
