Ckoramaandel Cements' begins work on Phase I expansion project

Civil and fabrication works for Phase I of Ckoramaandel Cements' cement expansion project at Ramapuram in Nalgonda district in Andhra Pradesh has begun.

The company is expanding the capacity of cement unit, in two phases, with an investment of Rs.700 crore.

Financial closure of the first phase of expansion with Rs.135 crore is completed. Phase I of expansion is scheduled for completion by March 2009, which will increase the cement production capacity from current 0.16 million tpa to one million tpa.

For the second phase of expansion, the company has lined up Rs.565 crore investments for a new line to add 1.5 million tpa and will take up the total capacity to 2.5 million tpa. The supplies were identified and orders for equipment will be placed by October 2008. Work on Phase II is expected to be completed by June 2010.
