Bridgestone, the Japan based tyre manufacturer, is planning to set up its second tyre manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra, at an investment of Rs 2,050 crore. The proposed plant is likely to offer logistical advantages.
The main advantage is that the Pune region comprising Chakan, Ranjangaon and Talegaon, is home to auto majors, including Mahindra International, Tata-Fiat, General Motors India, Volkswagen and Bajaj Auto.
The company already has a manufacturing facility at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh which caters to several big vehicle manufacturers.
