A greenfield international airport and integrated development of the Buddhist circuit is to come up at Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. The project costing Rs 650 crore will be developed on PPP model on DBFOT basis.

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has prepared a project definition report, likely to be modified into a DPR and sent to the Central Government for approval.

The development of the airport will not only boost tourism in the area but also help focus on building the crumbling infrastructure of the Buddhist circuit and augment development of this remote eastern part of the state as well.
