Airports planned at Amravati, Gadchiroli in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Government has decided to build airports at Amravati and Gadchiroli district. The Maharashtra Airport Development Company has been appointed as the nodal agency for the projects.

The airport will be developed at Bellora in Amravati district over 300 ha. The project will entail a cost of Rs.289 crore of which Rs.64 crore will be provided as a grant by the state.

The airport at Gadchiroli is being developed for deployment of troops for anti-naxal operations and evacuations of the injured. A helicopter base will also be developed and the Indian Air Force will operate it.
